| In times of emergency, communications
are vital -- clear voice and data communications that are available
immediately, totally mobile and, above all, reliable. QUALCOMM Globalstar
Satellite Phones give you those assurances almost anywhere in the
world, even in areas of total devastation and no electricity. Because
QUALCOMM Globalstar portable phones work as cellular phones where
cellular coverage is available and as satellite phones where it isn’t,
your communications are completely independent of any local telephony
infrastructure. You don’t have to worry about service disruptions
because of power failures or other events common in disaster areas.

Rescue teams and other early assessment personnel can communicate among

communication center to coordinate development and relief efforts.
Globalstar phones have already been extensively used
by telecommunications companies in France for many applications, including
Y2K contingency communications and emergency communications after damaging
wind storms in December 1999.
Emergency teams can also send vital data to each other
by taking advantage of the portable satellite phone’s data and positioning
capabilities. Access the Internet† when connected to a computer or PDA,
or take advantage of phone services such as position location*, short
messaging service (SMS)*, digital facsimile† and Caller ID.
